What better way to start the April Fool’s Day but going big-watchmaking novelties fishing by setting sail on one of the most Kick-Ass flagship of the whole modern Horology fleet ?
If the beginning of this article only hangs by a thread, I can nonetheless bet that what the Hublot trawler has brought back in its nets this year will bait your goo-goo eyes to better strike the hook into your attention’s mouth.
Well, after this phishing attempt, it is now time to take a quick look through the porthole of Hublot’s boat because : novelties ahead captain !
And I’m pretty sure that the anchor won’t be the only one to wet this year.
So, let’s board !
BASELWORLD 2019 – HUBLOT NOVELTIES
If in the past Hublot has never really been the watchmaking fix that I would have spontaneously snorted, the formula has strongly been refined this year to offer us an amazeballs watchmaking trip.
But let’s begin softly to avoid an early overdose of these highly addictive 2019 Hublot novelties.
HUBLOT CLASSIC FUSION FERRARI GT
So, let’s get off to a flying start, so to speak, with the brand new Hublot Classic Fusion Ferrari GT inaugurating the big brand’s novelty of the year, which consists of integrating the Unico Manufacture self-winding movement in a 45mm Classic Fusion case.
HUBLOT CLASSIC FUSION FERRARI GT TITANIUM
Available in three versions on the paddock of the collection, the first one to pull out of the pit stop is the soberly called Hublot Classic Fusion Ferrari GT Titanium, a dramatically lifestyle oriented piece with a curvy case whose external frame is signed Flavio Manzoni to whom we owe the racy features.
Hublot on its side did a pretty nice and flattering job by taking care of the rest of the case as well as the suspended mounted internal engine and its flying illusion.
HUBLOT CLASSIC FUSION FERRARI GT KING GOLD
Always sticking to its proud habits as technological exhibitionist, Hublot has naturally draped the Classic Fusion Ferrari GT with a King Gold finery, its proprietary 18-carat gold alloy consisting of a fine and unique gold-copper-platinum combination conferring to the material this very specific and stabilized look of an even more red gold than 5N Gold itself.
This tribute to the Gran Turismo universe wouldn’t be as complete if the new Hublot Classic Ferrari GT Fusion weren’t coming on a Schedoni leather strap, the same leather found on the seats of a certain Ferrari 550 Maranello.
Hublot is also proposing this piece in a 3D carbon version, hence its name Classic Fusion Ferrari 3D CARBON GT, which I unfortunately completely skipped to take in pictures of.
Bravo Le Claqueur de Doigts, huh, bravo ! Yeah yeah, I know I know…
To conclude, for those who’re dreaming of burning some Ferrari’s tires rubber but just can’t afford it yet, know that you can train yourself by burning your credit card instead by buying one of these three Hublot Classic Fusion Ferrari GT novelties (everyone must start somewhere, nop !?) :
HUBLOT BIG BANG UNICO TEAK ITALIA INDEPENDENT TITANIUM
Behind this endless name for a 45mm piece for which some would say about it that the one who chose it must suffer an inferiority complex, hides the 2019 edition of a collaboration initiated in 2015 with Lapo Elkann.
Lapo-Who ? Nah, not Lap-Land, nor Lapo Elfmann (it’s not a Fairy Tail forum here), but Lapo Elkann, the heir of the Fiat empire … until he was kicked out of the group in 2005 after an cocaine and heroin overdose of cocaine in the good company of a 53 year old transvestite …
Well, the boy with a head the size of a basketball succeeded to bounce back in 2007 by founding his own brand I let you guess the name… Italia Independent, which markets luxury clothing and accessories with no logo.
Still no face to put on the boy’s face ? Np np, me either anyway.
Whatever, 10 years the Fiat fiasco, the whimsical boy has since decided to use his ten fingers, including drawing this new Hublot Big Bang Teak Italia Independent Titanium (what a god damn long name), inspired by … sailing and water sports… of course.
The bezel of the Unico Teak Italia Independent is as its name suggests made of Teak, while the piece comes with a rubber-based strap, one of the brand’s DNA nucleotide, covered on top with Kevlar ropes, and equipped with the patented One-Click system (one more), which makes the bracelet faster to swap than the time it takes to pronounce the name of this piece.
Finally, the heart of this Hublot Big Bang Teak Italia Independent Titanium (just for pleasure) beats thanks to a self-winding Unico Manufacture Chronograph Skeleton movement, all in all for an as sober as its creator price of 23800 €.
That’s all for today folks, but the second part of Hublot 2019 novelties is already on its way !
